Detailed plans, with drawings, utilizing paddle wheels, saws, and trip hammers, for fitting out vessels for Arctic service. The manuscript is dedicated to King William IV, who, in 1828, was Duke of Clarence and Lord High Admiral of England. Pocock was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy at this time and drafted this document as a result of the difficulties encountered by Sir William Parry in his 1827 expedition attempting to reach the North Pole.
